After 15 years of making noise across the world, Davido is bringing the journey back home. The Afrobeats superstar has announced “ORIADÉ: The Residency,” a three night concert experience at the National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos, scheduled for December 17, 18 and 19, 2026.

The announcement places Davido right in the middle of Lagos’ Detty December season, but this is more than another December concert. For the singer, it is a celebration of where the journey started, how far it has travelled and the people who have been part of it.

Davido announced the residency on September 18, sharing a trailer alongside a message that captured the spirit of the project.

“LAGOS!!! We bringing it HOME! 15 years of madness and there’s nowhere I’d rather be.”

The three night residency will celebrate 15 years of Davido’s music career while bringing his latest album, ORIADÉ, to the stage in Lagos. Multiple reports have described the shows as the first major live presentation of the album in Lagos.

It is difficult to talk about Davido’s 15 year journey without remembering how it began. His emergence with songs such as “Back When” and “Dami Duro” in the early 2010s introduced a young artist who quickly became one of the biggest names in Nigerian music.

Fifteen years later, that young artist has performed on major international stages, built a global audience and become one of the most recognisable names associated with Afrobeats.

Now, instead of another international stage, Davido is choosing Lagos and there is something fitting about that. The residency comes during a period when Lagos itself becomes one of the biggest entertainment destinations in Africa, making the National Theatre an especially significant setting for the celebration.

ORIADÉ Comes Home

Davido released ORIADÉ, his sixth studio album, in July 2026. The project features collaborations with artists including Black Sherif, Leon Thomas, Aya Nakamura, Mayorkun, FOLA, Llona, NO11, JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay.

The residency will give fans the opportunity to experience songs from the album in a live setting, alongside records from across Davido’s career.

That combination is likely to make the three nights feel less like a conventional album concert and more like a journey through different chapters of his career.

From the early days of “Dami Duro” to the global success of songs such as “Fall,” “If” and “Aye,” and now the ORIADÉ era, the National Theatre will become the setting for Davido to tell that story on stage.

Why The National Theatre Matters

The choice of venue is perhaps one of the most interesting parts of the announcement. Davido is not taking the residency to just another concert arena. He is bringing it to the National Theatre in Iganmu, one of Nigeria’s most recognised cultural landmarks.

Davido’s official residency website describes the event as his making history as the first Afrobeats artist to hold a residency at the National Theatre, with three consecutive performances on December 17, 18 and 19. That gives the project a cultural dimension beyond entertainment.

It is also consistent with the message behind Davido’s announcement. After spending years taking Nigerian music to audiences around the world, he is bringing a major production back to Nigerian soil.

The message is simple, but powerful. You can travel the world and still come home.

The “On The Road” Connection

Interestingly, the residency announcement arrived alongside the release of Davido’s “On The Road” music video. The video documents different moments from his recent global journey, including footage connected to his 5IVE ALIVE World Tour, Coachella, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opening ceremony in Morocco and Paris Fashion Week.

There is an almost cinematic connection between the two releases.First, the world sees Davido on the road. Then Lagos gets the announcement. He is coming home.

That makes “On The Road” more than just another music video in the rollout. It becomes part of the story surrounding the ORIADÉ residency, connecting the places Davido has travelled to the city that remains central to his story.

Three Nights, One Homecoming

Fans can expect performances from ORIADÉ alongside some of Davido’s biggest records from throughout his career. Special guests are also expected during the residency, although a full guest lineup has not yet been announced.

There is already strong interest from the 30BG community, with Davido announcing that members of his fanbase would receive first access to the ticket presale.

General ticket sales are scheduled to open on September 25, 2026. Ticket prices and the complete performance lineup had not been announced at the time of publication.

For Lagos, December has officially entered another level. Davido is not simply returning for one night. He is taking three. And after 15 years on the road, ORIADÉ: The Residency is shaping up to be Davido’s way of telling Lagos one thing: “I went around the world, but I still brought it home.”
