The newly crowned Miss Universe, Chidinma Adetshina who represented Taraba state, had a remarkable journey towards the crown.
Recall that she was disqualified from the Miss South Africa Pageantry after questions arose about her nationality.

Last month, she quit the Miss South Africa contest after becoming the target of xenophobic online attacks. Due to resilience and grace, Miss Chidinma accepted an invitation to compete in the Nigerian pageant and emerged the eventual winner.

Aged 23 years, Miss Chidinma defeated four other finalists, including Miss Rivers State, Miss Anambra State, Miss Ondo State and Miss Edo State to clinch the title.


She will be representing Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico this November, this year, while Miss Anambra who emerged first runner- up will participate in the Miss Supranational pageant.

By clinching the title, Chidinma walks away with the grand prize of N10 million.
According to the organizers of Miss Universe Nigeria, it was an opportunity for Adetshina’s to represent her father’s native land on an international stage. Stating that her “journey in pageantry is far from over.”

After she was crowned the new queen, she took to her Instagram page stating, ‘it was “a dream come true,” describing the crown as “not just a symbol of beauty” but “a call to action” for a united Africa.


“As I accept this honor, I want to share a vision that burns deeply within me, a vision of African unity and peaceful coexistence!” she wrote in a statement on her Instagram page.

“Let’s break down the barriers that divide us. Let’s foster a continent where every African can move freely without prejudice, pursue their dreams, and contribute to the growth and prosperity of our great continent,” the statement added.
