Breath of Life wins big at the AMVCA 2024
The AMVCA is an annual award presented by MultiChoice recognizing outstanding achievements in television and film. It is arguably the most viewed movie awards in Africa.
Before the event , the executive head of Content and Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, Dr. Busola Tejumola, described the 10th AMVCA as a celebration to mark a decade of brilliance, innovation, and the sheer magic of African storytelling on screen.
The annual event began with a cultural Day and climaxed at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos State with the award ceremony and a red carpet reception. The red carpet which was hosted by Uti Nwanchukwu and Toke Makinwa had celebrities displaying stunning outfits. Ik Osakioduwa returned as the host for the 10th consecutive year.
There were lots of thrills, glamour, razzmatazz and plenty of surprises with this year’s awards. One that caught us off guard was movies with the highest nominations failing to win awards in their respective categories nominated. Over the Bridge emerged as the strongest contender with 12 nominations, followed by Mami Wata, which snagged 11 nominations, yet it was Breath of Life, that had the most wins, five wins.
