Ayra Starr reaches 2 billion Spotify streams
From Grammy nods to global streams, the celestial star is soaring higher than ever.
There’s no doubt about it Ayra Starr is officially one of Africa’s biggest musical exports. With a sound that blends Afropop, soul, and fearless Gen Z energy, the Marvin Records starlet has now added another feather to her glittering cap: 2 billion Spotify streams across all credits.
The Numbers Don’t Lie
According to Kworb, a Spotify data tracking platform, Ayra reached over 2 billion streams as of October 10, 2024 this makes her one of the most streamed African female artists ever.
Her latest album, The Year I Turned 21, is leading the charge with over 500 million streams, while two standout tracks have individually surpassed 400 million. Rush has 409M+ streams while Santa (by Rvssian ft. Ayra Starr) has 455M+ streams
In addition, her feature on People by Libianca alongside Omah Lay has hit 106 million, and her breakout single Bloody Samaritan currently stands at 82 million.
A Career Year for the Celestial Being
Beyond streaming success, 2024 has been massive for Ayra Starr. She recently bagged four nominations at the 2024 MTV EMAs in the following categories: Best New Artist, Best African Act, Best Afrobeats Act and Best Push Artist.
Also, her growing international presence is proof that she’s not just a Nigerian star, she’s a global force.
A Place Among Giants
With this milestone, Ayra joins an elite list of Nigerian artists who have crossed the 2B Spotify mark, including, Tems, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema,CKay and Davido
Her inclusion isn’t just symbolic, it reflects years of consistency, global appeal, and genre-defining artistry.
For me, its clear to see that Ayra Starr isn’t just turning 21 , she’s turning heads globally. From Lagos to London, Accra to Atlanta, her voice is echoing across charts, playlists, and award shows.
With momentum like this, 2 billion might just be the beginning.
While ” Rush” remains one of her biggest hits, my stand out track remains Lonely (ft. Zinoleesky).
What’s yours?
